About Primary Sociology enrichment in Ireland
Sociology is not on the Primary School Curriculum, and only some schools offer it at senior level. These sessions are enrichment for children who are curious about people, families and communities.
The central move is learning to explain something about a person by looking at the group around them rather than the individual alone. Children meet that idea naturally through families, schools, traditions and difference, and it reframes a lot of what they already notice.
It builds directly on the social strands of SESE and SPHE, so it reinforces school work rather than sitting apart from it.
