How Memory Works
Remembering, forgetting and study habits
Psychology enrichment for primary pupils - how memory, attention, feelings and learning work, taught one-to-one in a way children can apply to themselves.
Psychology is not a primary school subject in Ireland, and it is offered only by some schools even at senior level. These sessions are enrichment for children curious about why people think and behave as they do.
The most immediately useful part is memory and attention. Children learn how memory actually works, why cramming fails, why testing yourself beats rereading, and why concentration is hard - and then apply that to their own homework. It is rare for a subject to pay for itself this directly.
Alongside that we look at feelings, habits and how psychologists test their ideas, which introduces the notion that a claim about people needs evidence behind it.
This is enrichment tutoring, not preparation for a State examination. Sessions are shaped around your child's curiosity and reading level rather than a syllabus.
