How Memory Works
Encoding, forgetting and better study habits
An introduction to Psychology for Junior Cycle students - memory, learning, behaviour and how psychologists actually test their ideas.
Psychology is not a Junior Cycle subject in Ireland, and it is offered only by some schools even at senior level. These sessions are an introduction for interested students.
The most immediately useful content is memory and learning. Students find out why rereading notes feels productive and mostly is not, why testing yourself works better, and why spacing revision beats cramming - then apply it to the subjects they are actually being assessed in.
Alongside that, students meet research methods and ethics, which introduces the idea that a claim about people needs evidence, and that the evidence is often weaker than the headline suggests.
Psychology is not a Junior Cycle subject. These sessions introduce it, and the memory and study content applies immediately to your child's other subjects.
