About Primary History tutoring in Ireland
History at primary level is part of SESE, alongside Geography and Science. It runs from personal and family history in the junior classes out to local, Irish and world history by Sixth Class, and it is taught as inquiry - working from evidence rather than memorising dates.
That evidence habit is the point. Children learn that a photograph, an object or a story is a clue that someone left behind, and that clues can be incomplete or one-sided. It is the same skill Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate History are ultimately assessed on, just with simpler material.
Sessions work with whatever topic your child's class is covering, and lean on local and family history where we can, because history a child can connect to their own street or grandparents lands far better than history at a distance.
